What’s New for the 2025 GMC Terrain?

The 2025 GMC Terrain introduces a bolder, truck-inspired design that aligns with GMC’s signature styling across its lineup. The next-generation Terrain is tailored to modern drivers and offers more space, enhanced safety features, and advanced technology. For the first time, a two-tone roof option in black or gray is available, adding a distinctive touch to its exterior. The 2025 Terrain has also seen a major reorganization of its trim levels. It’s set to debut in the Elevation trim this year, with the AT4 and Denali models following in 2026.

Overview of the New GMC Terrain Trims

As of February 2025, the new GMC Terrain is only available in the Elevation model. This model replaces the SLE and SLT trims from previous years, streamlining the lineup. While the Elevation is available for the 2025 model year, the AT4 and Denali are set to arrive in 2026, with more information available closer to their release dates. For now, we’ll explore the essential features and benefits of the 2025 Elevation.

Exterior Features and Options

The Elevation trim starts with 17-inch Grazen metallic machined-face wheels, active noise cancellation, body-color door handles, deep-tinted rear glass, heated power outside mirrors, and a manual liftgate. LED lighting includes automatic Intellibeam headlights and taillights to illuminate your adventures. The Elevation also offers a Black Edition with 19-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels, a darkened grille and C-shaped surrounding bezel, black mirror caps, black roof-mounted side rails, black exterior accents, and black exterior badging with red GMC lettering for a unique appearance.

Convenience and Tech Features

The Driver Convenience package is standard on the Elevation trim, featuring remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, and driver express up/down and express down passenger windows. Other standard features include a 12-volt auxiliary cargo area power outlet, an 11-inch driver information center, keyless entry with push-button start, rear air vents, single-zone automatic climate control, USB ports, and premium cloth upholstery. You also get OnStar Basics, a six-speaker audio system, a high-definition (HD) rear vision camera, Wi-Fi hot spot capability, SiriusXM, and a 15-inch infotainment touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Additional available features for the 2025 GMC Terrain enhance convenience, connectivity, and visibility. The HD surround vision camera provides a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings for added safety. Rainsense wipers and a heated wiper park improve visibility in inclement weather. The AutoSense power liftgate automatically opens when it detects the key fob, making loading and unloading effortless. Performance and Engine Options

Under the hood of the 2025 GMC Terrain, you’ll discover a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with direct injection and variable valve timing. The front-wheel-drive (FWD) Terrain features a continuously variable automatic transmission and delivers 175 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque with a maximum trailering limit of 800 pounds. If you opt for an all-wheel-drive (AWD) Terrain, you’ll get an eight-speed automatic transmission, 175 horsepower, 203 lb-ft of torque, and 1,500 pounds of maximum trailering capacity.

Drive mode select allows you to customize your drive to respond and adapt to various driving conditions. The FWD models have Normal and Snow, while the AWD adds AWD and Off-Road modes for better performance off the beaten path. The EPA estimates the FWD GMC Terrain will achieve up to 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Choosing AWD lowers the city estimate to 24 mpg, while the highway rating remains similar. The FWD model offers better fuel efficiency for urban driving, while the AWD version provides enhanced traction with a slight trade-off in city mileage.

Interior and Cargo Space

The 2025 GMC Terrain Elevation interior offers a spacious, well-designed cabin, providing comfort for front and rear passengers. Headroom measures 40 inches in the front and 39.2 inches in the rear. Legroom is generous, with 40.6 inches in the front and 39.2 inches in the rear, ensuring a comfortable ride for all occupants.

The shoulder room measures 57.7 inches in the front and 55.7 inches in the back, while the hip room provides 55.2 inches and 50.8 inches of space. The cargo capacity is versatile, offering 63.5 cubic feet of storage with the rear seats folded down and 29.8 cubic feet behind the second row.
