Kids love eating hand-dipped ice cream cones on old-fashioned backless stools and posing for photos on the carousel horse mounted inside the ice cream shop. The Hudson Creamery serves Jane's Ice Cream, hand-crafted in small batches in the Hudson Valley. You can choose from 29 standard or exotic flavors, such as apricot orange blossom, pomegranate molasses, and rum raisin. Of course, you can also pick from more traditional flavors, including vanilla bean or cookies and cream. The shop makes mouth-watering sundaes, milkshakes, and ice cream cookie sandwiches. Lincoln Depot Museum On February 19, 1861, President-elect Abraham Lincoln took his inaugural train ride from Springfield, Illinois, to Washington, DC. En route, he stopped to give a whistle-stop speech at a small depot in Peekskill. Today, the Lincoln Depot Museum is a 3,000-square-foot museum inside the Peekskill Freight Depot commemorating Lincoln's visit. The museum houses a substantial collection of Civil War-era artifacts and memorabilia. History buffs will enjoy the rare maps, photos, and original documents highlighting Lincoln's activity in the Hudson Valley. Location: 41 S. This place serves delicious food made with high-quality ingredients. The portions are large and well worth the value. Make sure to get a sandwich with fresh mozzarella, or just get some to go. It's the best in the area. One of the sandwiches you can get at Arthur Avenue Deli is the Rubenator. This comes with hot pastrami, melted Swiss, homemade coleslaw, and Russian dressing. If you want your sandwich to have a kick, try the blazing chicken with buffalo chicken, pepper jack cheese, hot peppers, lettuce, and onions. Saverio's Deli Saverio's Deli proudly serves fresh and healthy cuisine. It makes many of its items every day right at the counter, so you can always count on fresh Italian sausage and mozzarella. Its signature sandwiches come on a roll or wedge. The Big Mamma sandwich is always a good place to start if you're not sure what to get. It has a freshly prepared chicken cutlet, melted mozzarella cheese, roasted peppers, balsamic and oil. The Bronco sandwich is also worth a try. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. There's no indoor seating, but there are outdoor tables where you can sit during the warmer months. Make sure to try the Cluck'en Russian. This comes with a chicken cutlet on a roll with melted provolone cheese and Russian dressing. The meatball sandwich is also a wonderful choice. It has Cameron's meatballs and tomato sauce. If you want something you can't get just anywhere, the list of specialty sandwiches should be your go-to. You can get the Cajun horse with Cajun-style roast beef, lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, and horseradish. The Cluck'en ranch has chicken cutlet, melted cheddar cheese, bacon, and ranch dressing. The Eggplanter comes with breaded eggplant, melted Muenster cheese, roasted peppers, lettuce, and Russian dressing on a perfectly toasted roll. Gino's Grab 'n Go Gino's Grab 'n Go, right in Carmel Hamlet, is more than just a deli; it's also a pizza place and a cigar shop. Owner Owen Jordan opened Deli Land in 1991 after renovating a custard stand from the 1950s. After 30 years in the business, you can always count on delicious food made with high-quality ingredients. It starts in the morning with breakfast sandwiches and platters, and then you can head back for lunch, where you have burgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs. The menu has a variety of burgers, along with wraps such as the turkey club, chicken Caesar, and the funky chicken with roast chicken, melted cheddar cheese, roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomato, and Russian dressing. You can't beat a hot melted sandwich, and have several to choose from at Deli Land.
